What is Cosmetology?

HISTORY OF COSMETOLOGY

Modern cosmetology began in the 1900s when big beauty brands like Max Factor and Maybelline were founded. The first formal education courses for cosmetology started in the 1930s. By the 1950s and 60s, cosmetologists had started to learn special hair treatments, like coloring, perms, and heated styling techniques.

In the simplest form, cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying the hair, skin, and nails. Cosmetologists undergo training and obtain licenses to provide cosmetic services for the hair, skin, and nails. Their expertise encompasses hair cutting, coloring, chemical treatments, hair removal, nail and skin care, analysis of skin and hair, wellness and spa treatments, staying updated on fashion trends, and specializing in various types of makeup.

Yeah, this is life 😂

It is currently one of the most sought-after careers in the U.S. with an average growth of 19%* (*BLS.gov). That is much faster than the average for all occupations. They are professionals when it comes to beautification. They are also responsible for the safety and comfort of our clients. The majority of their training focuses on the science behind these treatments, as well as sanitation methods.
